Aya Matsuura has dedicated the first half of 2007 to GAM, her Hello! Project group with Miki Fujimoto. In addition to releasing their debut album and two singles, the duo went on their first concert tour earlier this year. GAM has yet another single in the works for the summer as well, but for now, Aya returns to solo status for her 19th single, Egao ("Smiling Face"). Written and composed by singer-songwriter Yumi Tanimura, touching mid-tempo ballad Egao is the theme song for the NTV program News 24; the lyrics have an encouraging message about accepting oneself and persevering even when the going gets tough. As a side track, Aya offers a cover of Tanimura's Anata ni Deaete.
